Abu Dhabi resident for three years, Subhash Sudhakara Nayak is originally from Puttur, Mangalore City in India. A holder of a master’s in pharmacy, he now works for the pharmaceutical industry in the capital and in his spare time he snaps urban and landscape scenes of our favourite emirate and city.

 How long have you been taking photographs?

Highway through the desert

I’ve enjoyed taking pictures for as long as I can remember. I started clicking 12 years ago with Sony Xperia Neo V. My friend, Vikas Krishna, taught me how to capture long exposure shots using ProMode.

Reflections of Abu Dhabi

My parents, brother and friends have always been supportive and guided me, which actually increased  my passion towards photography, and I have been taking it seriously for three years now.

What do you use to capture your shots?

I started by using my phone then progressed to a Sony Cybershot DSC WX 100. As my passion towards photography increased, my parents decided to get me a Nikon D5300. I used to spend lots of time watching tutorials on YouTube, learning all the tips and tricks, before clicking lots of pictures.

Later, I switched to phone photography using OnePlus phones because of the ease and options to shoot, edit and share instantly.

I have also used wide angle lenses for phone by Moment, with five out of six photos that I have shared being shot by phone.  I recently bought a drone to take pictures from a diffeent perspective. I currently use OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition and DJI Mavic Air 2 for photography.
