Remedies to Get Rid of Toothache
Many conditions–including cavities, loose fillings, a cracked tooth, swollen gums, or a sinus condition –can all cause the feared toothache pain. Until you can reach the dentist, these home remedies can provide toothache relief.
Clove oil
Here’s a simple toothache cure! Cloves are a remedy for numbing nerves since past; the principal chemical compound of this spice is eugenol, a natural painkiller. But clove oil needs to be used carefully. Pouring the oil on the hurting area can in fact worsen the pain if you get it on sensitive gum tissue or on your tongue. In its place, put two drops of clove oil on a cotton ball and place it against the tooth itself until the pain reduces. In a pinch, use a bit of crushed clove or place a whole clove on the tooth. Chew the whole clove a slight to release its oil and keep it in place for half an hour or until the pain lessens.
Ginger-cayenne paste
Mix the same parts of these two heat-storing spices with sufficient water to make a paste. Roll a small ball of cotton into enough paste to saturate it, then place it on your tooth while avoiding your gums and tongue. Leave it until the pain die away—or as long as you can tolerate it as the mixture is expected to burn. You can also try these spices separately, as both are powerful painkillers. The main chemical component of cayenne—capsaicin—has been found to aid block pain messages from reaching the brain.
Make a salt water mouthwash
A teaspoon of salt dissolved in a cup of boiling water makes a pain-killing mouthwash, which will clean away exasperating fragments and help reduce swelling. Swank it around for about 30 seconds before spattering it out. Salt water purifies the area around the tooth and draws out some of the liquid that causes swelling. Repeat this treatment as frequently as needed. It’s an easy remedy but it really works!
Relax with tea
Peppermint tea has a pleasant flavour and some shocking power. Put 1 teaspoon dried peppermint leaves in one cup boiling water and immerse for 20 minutes. After the tea cools, swish it around in your mouth, then spit it out or sip. Also, the harsh tannins in strong black tea may help control pain by reducing swelling. For this general remedy place a warm, wet tea bag against the affected tooth for short-term relief.
Swish with hydrogen peroxide
To help kill bacteria and get rid of some uneasiness, swish with a mouthful of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. This can provide temporary aid if the toothache is gone with by infection and a vulgar taste in the mouth, but like other toothache remedies, it’s only a temporary until you see your dentist and get the source of infection clean up. A hydrogen peroxide solution is only for cleaning. Spit it out, then rinse several times with plain water.
Use ice
Here’s a widespread toothache remedy! Place a small ice cube in a plastic bag, wrap a thin cloth around the bag, and apply it to the aching tooth for about 15 minutes to distress the nerves. On the other hand, you can also place that ice pack on your cheek, over the painful tooth. Also, according to legends, if you massage your hand with an ice cube, you can help get rid of a toothache.
Divert with vinegar and brown paper
Another country remedy calls for soaking a small piece of brown paper in vinegar, shake one side with black pepper, and holding this to the cheek. The warm feeling on your cheek may distract you from your tooth pain.
Use right brushing tools
Use a toothpaste that’s labelled “for sensitive teeth.” If you have a problem with shrinking gums, this could boot out a lot of the pain you maybe experience from hot or cold foods. When gums shrink, the dentin under your teeth’s enamel surface is exposed, and this material is mainly sensitive. Switch to the softest-prickled brush you can find to aid reserve gum tissue and prevent more shrinking.
Use a bubble gum to cover a crack
If you’ve broken a tooth or have gone a filling, you can lessen some pain by topping the exposed area with softened chewing gum. This might work with a loose filling, too, to grip it in place until you can catch to the dentist. To avoid more discomfort, avoid chewing anything with that tooth until you can have it mended.
