Learn more about Islam on these tours

This is worth sharing again. If you want to know more about Islam then this is for you!  Mosques with historical significance in Abu Dhabi will soon open their doors to tourists

If you ever wanted to know more about the city’s mosques, what goes inside and to learn about Islamic architecture then read on!

The ‘Mosques Tour Initiative’will roll out in early 2020.

The initiative is in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments and various churches in the emirate.

There are five mosques currently on the tour – Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed the First Mosque, Al Kareem Mosque in Al Marina, Al Aziz Mosque on Reem Island, the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan the Second Mosque in Al Khalidiyah, and the Mariam, Umm Eisa Mosque in Al Mushrif.

Hop on a tour and you’ll get to learn about “proper etiquette” when visiting mosques and an introductory overview of the religious and societal role of mosques.

Also on the agenda is learning about what it takes to build and maintain mosques, as well as the history surrounding them.

DCT Abu Dhabi hopes to educate the public on Islamic history and culture, mosque architecture, significance of the decorative art displayed in Islamic architecture when combined with traditional and contemporary art elements.

We still don’t know the actual dates for the tours but we are currently making enquiries and as soon as we know, we’ll let you know.
