HH Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, president of the Republic of Mauritania, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi earlier this week, along with HE Hamad Ghanim Hamad Al Mehairi, UAE’s ambassador to Mauritania, and a number of high-ranking officials during his official visit to the UAE this week.

The delegation commenced the visit by paying respects at the ossuary of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. HE Dr Yousif Al Obaidli, director-general of the Mosque Centre, then showed the dignitaries around the mosque and one of the Center’s tour specialists talked about the history, components, the various architectural styles used in its construction.

Then they discussed how the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center’s vision and mission emanate from the cultural and national values preserved and nurtured by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul).

At the end of the visit, the President of Mauritania was presented with two of the Grand Mosque Center’s bestselling publications. The first titled “Spaces of Light” contains winning photographs from the “Spaces of Light” photography award that is organised by the Center. While the other book was about places of worship in the Islamic history.
