Art reworked

Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation Red PalaceThe Red Palace, exhibition takes inspiration from the historical 20th century ‘Red Palace’ and its role within Saudi Arabia’s key historical and political events of that era. The exhibition uses memorabilia, relics, and discarded objects from various sites, artist Sultan Bin Fahad creates sculptures and installations that explore the transformative potential of the ruin to stand in for what was lost and its reformulation within the country’s social metamorphosis.

Wednesday, 12th February

Walk on the wild side 

Mangrove Walk Abu Dhabi

The winding Qurum Walkway is proving to be a huge hit with visitors, so avoid the crowds and go on a Wednesday morning instead. The Mangrove Walk, which is located on Jubail Island, covers a one million-square-metre area filled with mangroves. There’s even six educational sections, including a floating platform.  You’ll get to see wildlife and grab a coffee at the cafe too. Best time to viist is high tide, we’ve been told.

Eastern promise

Shangri-La Abu Dhabi, Bain Al Jessrain

Lunch at Shang Palace on the banks of the Al Maqta Channel in the Bain Al Jessrain (Between Two Bridges) area of the capital. This authentically decorated Chinese restaurant has rolled out a new menu serving up authentic northern and southern Chinese dishes.  Ask for the Bird’s Nest dessert. We recommend you eat before you ask what’s in it, but we promise it’s tasty though.
