5 fun facts you didn’t know about Tom and Jerry
- Tom and Jerry first made their debut on10th February 1940 in a short animated film entitled Puss Gets the Boot.
- It’s hard to imagine them as anything else, but the infamous duo was originally named ‘JasPer’ and ‘Jinx.’ The cat and mouse battled it out tormenting one another around the house before the cat faces being thrown out should he break another item.
- Tom and Jerry have won seven oscars, starting with Yankee Doodle Mouse in 1943, Mouse Trouble in 1944, Quiet Please! in 1945 and The Cat Concerto in 1947 and that’s not all. Tom and Jerry were also awarded for The Little Orphan in 1949, The Two Mouseketeers in 1952 and Johann Mouse in 1953.
- In early episodes, Tom moved on all four legs like a normal cat, but later started walking on two legs! Do any of you die-hard fans remember these episodes?
- Tom and Jerry have joined forces with a number of extraordinary characters including Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes and Willy Wonka to name a few.
